AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has taken the note of statement given by the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr. Prem Singh Tamang, regarding Gurdwara Sri Guru Dangmar Sahib, Chairman of the Minority Commission.
In a letter written by the General Secretary of the Shiromani Committee, Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal, it has been said that the case regarding the Gurdwara Sri Guru Dangmar Sahib has been pending in the Sikkim High Court for a long time. The honorable court has reserved the judgment of this case. Speaking in favor of a particular community by the Chief Minister of Sikkim at such a time is going to affect the case.
It is written in the letter that this statement of the Chief Minister is inciting the people of the local community against the Sikh community. The Chief Minister's statement that the Gurdwara Sahib will not be allowed to be re-established under any circumstances is a gross violation of the court process, which is highly condemnable.
Bhai Grewal wrote in the letter that the video statement of the Chief Minister indicates that his government is trying to influence this case against the Sikh community. However, as the Chief Minister of a state, Mr. Tamang should do justice by treating all communities equally.
The letter also mentioned that as per the orders of the Hon'ble Court on 27 April 2023, the Government of India, the National Commission for Minorities and the Government of Sikkim should make efforts to resolve the matter through an out-of-court settlement.
The Minority Commission has demanded that taking note of the Chief Minister's statement, necessary instructions should be issued to prevent him from doing so in future.
