NEW DELHI: Dr Sonia Mann recently held a productive meeting with the Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, alongside the Delhi Minister of Culture, to discuss significant cultural advancements in Punjab.

During this pivotal discussion, Dr Mann emphasised the necessity of establishing branches of the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), and the National School of Drama (NSD) in Punjab.

Dr Mann articulated the benefits of such an initiative, highlighting the immense opportunities it would provide for the artist community in Punjab to refine their talents and engage with world-class cinema. "By bringing these esteemed institutions to Punjab, we are not just opening doors for the artist community, but we are also providing the children of poor farmers with a gateway to access opportunities in art and cinema, " said Dr Mann. "This step will play a crucial role in nurturing and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Punjab on a global stage."

Dr Mann's proposal received a positive response, and discussions are underway to explore the feasibility of this initiative. This endeavour promises to empower the local community, foster talent, and enhance the cultural landscape of Punjab.
