Speeding Innova Crashes Into DC Residence in Kapurthala; Driver Flees After Earlier Collision

KAPURTHALA: speeding Innova car crashed into the DC residence in Kapurthala late on Thursday night, after first hitting another vehicle on Jalandhar Road Kapurthala. The driver abandoned the car at the spot and fled. Police from the City police station and a PCR team reached the scene, seized the vehicle, and initiated an investigation. 

According to PCR staff member ASI Karamjit Singh, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. Amritpal Singh, a resident of Urban Estate, was returning from Jalandhar with his family in their car. The speeding Innova (registration PB-08-BL-1334) was travelling behind them from the same direction. 

As Amritpal Singh turned at the Karol Bagh cut, the Innova driver rammed his car from behind, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. The driver was later identified as Gurjit Singh, a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, Kapurthala. 

ASI Karamjit Singh said Amritpal alleged that the Innova driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. After the collision, he sped away towards the city. While fleeing, he drove straight into the DC residence gate at the DC Chowk, resulting in severe damage to the Innova as well. 

Upon receiving information, ASI Karamjit Singh, along with PCR Tango-1 staff ASI Talwinder Singh and ASI Jaspal Singh, reached the spot. The driver had already escaped, leaving the vehicle behind at DC Chowk. ASI Harjit Singh from City police station later impounded the Innova and started further legal proceedings.
