CHANDIGARH : Two NSS volunteers, Jasmeet and Amandeep Singh have been selected to represent
Chandigarh in the Republic Day Parade to be held in New Delhi on January 26. A communique to this
effect has been received in the office of NSS Cell, Chandigarh, from the Union Ministry of Youth
Affairs and Sports.
Jasmeet due to illness of her mother is completing her study through Open School
Learning and Amandeep Singh is a PGDCA student of DAV College, Sector 10. The selected
volunteers have been asked to attend the camp being held by the NSS Cell in Delhi from January 1.
Both the volunteers will remain in from January 1 to January 31.
Jasmeet belongs to Panipat in Haryana and Amandeep Singh is a resident of Khuda Ali
Sher and wanted to join defence forces.
They were asked to get such doocuments as security clearance, indemnity bond,
physical fitness certificate, volunteership certificate and two passport size photos, ready so that
these may be handed over to the officials at the time of reporting at the camp.
Disclosing this here official of the NSS Cell said that a selection camp had been held to
pick up NSS volunteers for the pre-Republic Day camp. After the strenuous selection procedure, four
volunteers were picked up for the pre-RD camp.
After the pre-RD camp, two of the four have been picked up for participation in the
republic day parade. They will report at the camp by the evening of January 1. The NSS participants
and programme officers will be reimused sleeper Class to and fro rail fare by their respective
institutions. Expenses incurred on boarding and loding will be borne by the Union Ministry of Youth
Affairs and Sports, the official said.
