Start-up and Entrepreneurship Grand Challenge marks goals for new entrepreneurs

LUDHIANA: Veterinary and Livestock Innovation and Incubation Foundation (VLIIF), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, Punjab organized Start-up and Entrepreneurship Grand Challenge on 27th June, 2024 in collaboration with Start-up Punjab, Govt. of Punjab. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor informed that this is the first time that Vet Varsity has taken the initiative for promotion of startups and development of an ecosystem for the growth of entrepreneurial culture in the university.

Dr. R.S. Sethi, Director, VLIIF and Dean, College of Dairy and Food Science Technology, in his welcome address said that DST-NIDHI has provided a grant of Rs 5 crore to establish an inclusive Technology Business Incubator (i-TBI) in the university to foster the innovation, entrepreneurship and excellence within the academic community. The Start-up and Entrepreneurship Grand Challenge is part of the series of events which the university will be organizing in coming days to provide the opportunities to the students, rural youth to explore the Startup possibilities in the area of veterinary and livestock sector.

Dr. S.S. Gosal Vice-chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University and chief guest of the event congratulated the Vet Varsity for taking initiatives of Start-up and Entrepreneurship Grand Challenge in the area of veterinary and livestock sector. Mr. Deepinder Dhillon, Joint Director, Invest Punjab explained about the various initiatives of Govt. of Punjab in linking various incubators with stakeholders. Top three ideas will be given cash prizes by Start-up Punjab. Dr. Dapinder Kaur Bakshi, Joint Director, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology highlighted the significance of science and technology for creating innovative ideas. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Verma, Additional Director, STPI, Mohali said different agencies of government are working tirelessly to bring innovative ideas. Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director Extension Education congratulated Dr. R.S. Sethi and his team for the initiative.

Mr. Jyoti Saroop, Founder and MD, The Unati Cooperative Marketing cum Processing Society Ltd, Dr. Radhika Trikha, Chief Operating Officer, AWaDH, IIT, Ropar and Mr. Shibananda Dash, Director, Munjal Birmingham City University Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Ludhiana also delivered expert lectures.
