10th International Yoga Day celebrated at RBU

MOHALI: Rayat Bahra University today celebrated the 10th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm. The event was held at the university campus (Central Gym).

The celebrations commenced with a welcome address by Director of Sports Dr Mahesh Jetly who emphasized the importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being. He highlighted how yoga has been an integral part of our culture and how its benefits are now recognized globally.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the university, said Yoga is an ancient art and science of health and harmony and has vast potential for physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual health of every human being.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Parvinder Singh addressing the gathering spoke about the university's commitment to promoting holistic education, which includes physical, mental, and spiritual development of students. "Yoga is not just a form of exercise; it is a way of life that enhances our overall well-being. I am delighted to see such a vibrant participation from our university community, " he remarked.

Among others Vice-Chancellor Dr Parvinder Singh, Registrar Dr Dinesh Sharma, and Director (Administration) Bir Singh Bains participated.

The event featured a series of yoga sessions led by experienced instructors Akanksha Gaur and Khushbu a Yoga Therapist where participants engaged in various asanas and breathing exercises. The sessions were designed to accommodate both beginners and advanced practitioners, ensuring everyone could benefit from the practice.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Mahesh Jetly who expressed his gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants, and organizers for making the event a grand success. He reiterated the university's dedication to fostering a healthy campus environment through regular yoga and wellness activities.
