KVK of Vet Varsity organises Kisan Mela on "Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna"

Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) inaugurated the Kisan Mela and said that "Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna" has implemented all over the country as well as in Punjab State. This Yojna will be beneficial to the farmers. He appreciated the activities conducted by KVK.

This Yojna will be beneficial to the farmers. He appreciated the activities conducted by KVK.
He added that water level is depleting day by day and there is dire need to use new technologies of irrigation for crops, vegetable and other farming activities. S. Dhindsa also planted a plant in premises of KVK to give a message to the farming community about role of trees for safe and clean environment.
Dr. H.K. Verma, Director Extension Education, GADVASU, extended gratitude to all the dignitaries and public representatives and explained in detail about the activities of Kendra for the benefit of farmers. He revealed the various knowledge empowerments strategies being adopted by farmers for getting healthy and remunerative livestock produce. GADVASU is providing various useful inputs to the farmers in the form of mineral mixtures, bye-pass fat, literature, diagnostic facilities and undertake various training programmes.
Dr. P.S. Tanwar, Deputy Director, said that Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna will be started from Khairf season 2016 and farmer will provide nominal premium 1.5 to 2% for different crop. He also said that in this Yojna each field of the farmer will be considered as a unit. More than 1000 farmers & public representative were present in Kisan Mela. To improve the productivity and reproductivity of dairy animals’ 5 kg mineral mixture to 20 landless and marginal farmers and 3 Uromin Licks Block each to 30 farmers were provided for demonstration purpose.
In this occasion a Kisan Goshti was also organized. Dr. M.P. Gupta Dr. Rajesh Kasrija, Dr. Khushvir Singh and, Dr. K. S. Matharu shared information on different animal husbandry and Fisheries issues.
An exhibition was arranged by the KVKs, Barbana, Mohali and different Colleges of GADVASU, Farmer Advisory Service Scheme, PAU & different Companies.
