Congress wins three out of four seats in assembly bye-election

CHANDIGARH: The Congress party has registered victory in three of the four seats of assembly where bye-election was held on October 21. The results were declared today.

Even thougdh Congress has won three seats of Jalalabad, Mukerian and Phagwara but it has lost prestigious seat of Dakha where Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had campained intensively in support of his advisor Captain Sandeep Sandhu. Similarly SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal had got a set back as his party had lost Jalalabad seat home seat of Sukhbir Badal. The seat had fallen vacant after Sukhbir Badal was elected to Lok Sabha.

BJP had lost Phagwara seat earlie held by Som Parkash. The seat was declared vacant after Som Parkash was elected to Lok Sabha and became minister of stte. Phagwara was considered a sage seat for BJP. Mukerian seat is retained by Congress from where its sitting MLA had died. Dakha was vacated after AAP MLA H.S.Phoolka had resigned. The seat is won by Manpreet Singh Ayali of SAD.

Phagwara seat is won by Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal of Congress by defeating his nearest rival Rajesh Bagha of BJP. Dhaliwal got 49210 voters and Bagha gor 23093 votes. BSP candidate Bhagwan Dass got third place with 15986 voters.

Mukerian seat is won by Indu Bala of Congress defeating Jangi Lal Mahajan of BJP. Indu Bala got 53791 votes and Mahajan got 50149 cotes.

In Dakha Manpreet Singh Ayali got 66286 vtes to defeat Congress nominee Sandeep Sandhu who got 51610 votes.

In Jalalabad Raminder Singh Awla of Congress got 76073 votes to win the seat and Raj Singh fo SAD was polled 59439 votes.AAp candidate Nohinder Singh got only 11267 votes. In 2017 assembly election this seat was won by Sukhbir Badal defeating Bhagwant Mann of AAP.
