MOHALI: University School of Allied Health Sciences (USAHS) of Rayat Bahra University organised an awareness session for the students and faculty on World AIDS Day. Theme of the day was “Collective Action: Sustain and Accelerate HIV progress”.
The day is observed each year to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS.
Taranjit Singh, Assistant Professor, Clinical Biochemistry, spoke about the history of AIDS, how it spreads and how its spread can be checked. He also spoke on the diagnosis, prevention options, and anti-retro-viral therapy.
A skit was presented for the students and faculty to make things more narrative and understanding. The skit was energetic and motivational.
Dean of USAHS, Dr Pankaj Kaul, explained ‘the 5H disease’ standing for Haitian, Homosexuals, Hemophilias, Hereditary and Heroin users being the source of infection.
Dean, USPR, Dr Lalit Gupta, in his message encouraged the staff to organise more such events with student participation for wider awareness.
