GNDU Professor selected as Editor of Indian Journal of Teacher Education

AMRITSAR: Vice chancellor Prof Karamjeet Singh congratulated Prof Amit Kauts, Department of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University for being selected as Editor of Indian Journal of Teacher Education (National peer reviewed journal published by National Council of Teacher Education, New Delhi) said that it is matter of pride for the university that the faculty is involved in the academic activities of the regulatory body and contributing in quality initiatives in the field of Teacher Education.

Indian Journal of Teacher Education is a bi annual journal dedicated to researches and policy perspectives in teacher education, is being revived by the present chairperson of NCTE Prof Pankaj Arora. The first issue is expected to be out in the month of march 2025. Along with IJTE another journal ‘Anweshika’ is also been revived.

NCTE is taking many initiatives like reformulating norms and standards of various courses of teacher education like ITEP programmes, BEd, MEd at various levels. Prof kauts have been participating in various meetings as member for developing regulations for these courses.

There are efforts to start one year BEd programme after ten years for those who pass out 4 years undergraduate programme or are post graduates.

One year MEd course and two years MEd course (Part time) is also under serious consideration of NCTE.

Prof kauts said that under the able guidance and support of the vice chancellor Prof Karamjeet singh department will take this as an opportunity to project GNDU at the national level and would collaborate with national academia in the field of teacher education.

Prof kauts informed that those who are interested to contribute in the journal can share their manuscripts on email Ijte@ncte-india.org latest by 20 Feb 2025 for its first issue.
