MOHALI: It was a splash of colours at the Rayat Bahra University campus here today as the students celebrated Holi, the festival of colours.

It was all fun and frolic as students from different schools of the university and faculty members participated in the celebrations.

A spirit of gay abandon marked the celebrations in the main lawns of the university campus where the students danced to blaring music played on the DJ.

The live performance by DJ Kaur drew thunderous applause from the students as they danced in merriment.

Enthused students also sprinkled colours on teachers. These bright colours are believed to signify energy, life and joy.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, speaking on the occasion said Holi is the festival that commemorates the victory of good over evil, brought about by the burning and destruction of the evil demon named Holika.

He said the festival marks the end of winter and the abundance of the upcoming spring harvest season. He said that Holi is a festival of new hope, new beginning and new opportunity. He extended warm wishes to all students and faculty, encouraging them to embrace the spirit of unity and joy that Holi brings. Gurinder Singh Bahra, Vice Chairman of the group, also extends his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the students, encouraging them to strive for excellence and make the most of the opportunities ahead.
