AMRITSAR: The Commerce Society of PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration, Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA), organized Comm-Fest.
Ratinder Kaur Sidhu, IRS, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Amritsar was the Chief Guest of the event. Dr. Deepak Devgan Program co-convener and Deputy Registrar introduced the Chief Guest to the audience.
He also apprised the audience about the idea of providing practical experience to the students as the whole event is managed by the members of Commerce Society on their own.
Dr. A. K. Kahlon, Acting Principal and Head of the Department shared the report of Commerce Society and the Department with the audience.
She congratulated the members of the Commerce Society on organising 4 major events during the current session. She also said that the Commerce Department of the College has always focused on the holistic development of the students. The department is always keen to provide such opportunities to its students.
Ratinder Kaur Sidhu stressed on the present need of our nation and motivated students to find employment opportunities in India only. She also encouraged students to become entrepreneurs, which will not only open new career options for them but it will also generate employment in the society. She also encouraged the students to aspire for Government competitive exams and become bureaucrats like her.
She congratulated Dr. Kahlon and Dr. Devgan for organising such a big event. During the event various competitions such as Ad-Mad Show, Debate, Poster Making, Photography, Rangoli, Solo Dance, Group Dance, Business Plan Competition and B-Plan Pitch: Poster Presentation Competition were organised. These events provided a dynamic platform for students to showcase their creativity, analytical skills and business acumen. More than 350 students actively participated in these competitions.
The competitions were judged by Dr. Sawraj Kaur (Dean Student Welfare), Prof. Supinder Kaur (Head, English Department), Dr. Gursharan Kaur (Head, Food Science and Technology Department), Dr. Mehtab Kaur, Dr. Poonam Sharma, Prof. Daljit Singh, Prof. Gurpreet Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Ruhgulab Singh, Anudeep Kaur and Prof. Harmandeep Kaur.
The Core Committee comprising of Prof. Reema Sachdeva, Dr. Sakshi Sharma, Dr. Manisha Behal and Prof. Pooja Puri along with student office bearers of the society Harman Singh Dhunna (President), Amitoj Singh Sandhu (Secretary), Jasleen Kaur (Finance Secretary) worked tirelessly for the success of the event. Prof. Meenu Chopra and Dr. Navpreet Kaur meticulously managed the coverage of the program.
The winners were facilitated by Principal Dr. Kahlon. Registrar Dr. Devender Singh, Dean Academics Dr. Taminder Bhatia, Dean Student Welfare Dr. Sawraj Kaur, Dr. Surjeet Kaur, Prof. Samiya, Prof. A.S. Bhalla, Prof. Shivali, Prof. Anindita Kaur Kahlon and other staff members were also present on this occasion.
