GNDU to Establish Skill Development Centre in Collaboration with National Skill Development Corporation

AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University is set to establish a Skill Development Centre under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. This initiative follows a visit by Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura, Adviser to the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for the Skill India International Mission, who met with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Karamjeet Singh and other officials.

Dr. Kaura emphasized the importance of skill development in enhancing employment opportunities for young graduates, both within India and abroad. The Government of India is proposed to established this in the Guru Nanak Dev University due to its outstanding academic performance, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and expertise in research and training.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh stated that, in alignment with his vision, graduates should receive skill-based education to empower them to become entrepreneurs. The Vice Chancellor graciously accepted this proposal and mentioned that a formal proposal for the establishment of this center would be submitted shortly. He expressed optimism that this initiative would greatly benefit the youth. Additionally, he extended his gratitude to Dr. Kaura for this initiative.

As part of this initiative, the University is launching 53 new certificate and diploma courses focused on skill enhancement. The university, which holds the highest NAAC score (3.85/4.0) among Indian universities, will offer training in finance, health, management, computer science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

The meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Karamjeet Singh and attended by other university officials, including Prof. Palwinder Singh, Prof. Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Prof. Harvinder Singh Saini, Prof. Vasudha Sambhyal, Prof. Balwinder Singh, Prof. Subheet Kumar Jain, Prof. Arvinder Kaur Prof. P.K. Pati, Prof. Pooja Chadha, Dr. Tejwant Singh, and Dr. Amit Chopra.

This collaboration marks a significant step in preparing students with industry-relevant skills, ensuring better career prospects and global opportunities.
