GADVASU tops in State Veterinary Universities of the country

LUDHIANA: Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU) has been ranked first among the Veterinary Universities of India, as per the ranking of Agricultural Universities and Research Institutes conducted by the Education Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi for the year 2019. GADVASU ranked 7th among all 67 Agricultural Universities, Veterinary Universities and Research Institutes of India. The ICAR initiated ranking of universities and research institutions under its purview with a larger objective to improve the standard of animal sciences and agricultural education in tune with the global scenario. Ranking was based on several parameters including student and faculty profile, student placements, research publications and citations, patents, technologies generated and transferred to farmers, resource generated and linkages.

Department of Veterinary Pathology conducts e-training on Diagnostic Cytology

LUDHIANA: Department of Veterinary Pathology, College of Veterinary Science of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, organized a five days e-training on “Diagnostic Cyto-pathology”. The training was held with the support of National Agricultural Higher Education Project-Institutional Development Plan (NAHEP-IDP) and its aim was to decipher the knowledge of cyto-pathology to Veterinary Pathologists throughout India so that they can hone their skills and contribute in diagnosing various inflammatory and tumorous conditions.

CHANDIGARH: The state government had declared lockdown and then imposed curfew in the state due to the situation caused by the Corona virus infection across the world. In the midst of this crisis, the livestock farmers are striving hard to continue providing nutritionally rich and essential commodity - milk to the people. To care for these farmers which include dairy farmers, poultry, piggery and goat farmers, the veterinary hospitals and dispensaries are being kept open for meeting the urgent needs of the livestock farmers.

Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh to lead Veterinary Surgery Society in India

LUDHIANA: Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh former Dean College of Veterinary Science and Dean Postgraduate Studies, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, (GADVASU) Ludhiana has been elected, unanimously, as President of the prestigious Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery (ISVS) at its 43rd annual congress and National Symposium held at the College of Veterinary Sciences, Hisar, from 14-16 Nov 2019. Dr. Singh informed that the society will have a major role at the national level to strengthen veterinary and animal sciences in general and veterinary surgery, anesthesia, diagnostic imaging in particular.

Scientists of 9 states and 19 institutions participated in the training at Veterinary University

LUDHIANA: An Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) sponsored 21 day advanced faculty training course  on “Diagnostic, anaesthetic and Surgical Interventions in Emergency and Trauma Patients”  concluded at the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University . Twenty four veterinary surgeons, clinicians and scientist representing 9 states of India and 19 institutions participated in the training program. The participants were imparted hands on training for different aspect of advanced treatment facilities for Emergency and Trauma patients.

Youth Festival concludes at Veterinary Varsity with a note of cheerfulness

LUDHIANA: Ninth Inter-college youth Festival of Vet. Varsity concluded with a note of gaiety. S. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Cabinet Minister, Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries Department was Chief Guest on this occasion whereas Dr. AS Nanda, Vice-Chancellor Presided over the Function. S. Sidhu recollected his old college days and memories of festivities of that time.
