Punjab Veterinary Council holds extension training for Vets

MOHALI: Punjab State Veterinary Council organized a three day extension training for 30 recently recruited Veterinary Officers at Livestock Complex in sector 68, here.

Extension experts from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana, Extension Education Institute, Nilokheri and department of Animal Husbandry dwelled on different topics to equip the new Officers with extension tools so that they can propagate policies and programmes of the Punjab Government at grassroot level.

Punjab State Veterinary Council is a regulatory body constituted under Indian Veterinary Council act 1984 for registration of veterinary doctors and to regulate Veterinary education.

The training was formally inaugurated by Dr Sarabjit Singh Randhawa , Dr Gurinder Singh Walia, Dr Naresh Kocchar president, member and Registrar respecively of Punjab State Veterinary Council, besides Director Animal husbandry Punjab Dr H S Kahlon and Dr H K Verma former Director Extension, College of Veterinary Science Ludhiana, by lightning a lamp.

Dr Randhawa called upon the Vets to inculcate habit of punctuality and to provide service to livestock farmers sincerely and diligently in best interest of the state.

The valedictory function was held on 20th August and the participants were distributed certificates by the Chief guest Dr H S Kahlon.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kahlon said trainings on Veterinary jurisprudence, equine management and ettiquettes would also be arranged for Vets at Punjab Police Academy Phillaur.

Former Joint Director and member Punjab State Veterinary Council Dr Gurinder Singh Walia urged the officers to strive for prevention of diseases , treatment and improvement of breed through selective breeding besides reducing inputs and increasing output through teaching modern management skills to livestock farmers in order to uplift the rural economy.

Dr Naresh Kocchar assured that more such trainings would be organised in future to chisel and update the skills of veterinarians so that they could provide top class services in field.
