MOHALI: Dr Naresh Kocchar Deputy Director, Punjab Veterinary Vaccine Institute Ludhiana, here today, took over the charge of Registrar, Punjab State Veterinary Council(PSVC).
The Council is a statutory body constituted under Indian Veterinary Council act 1984 and it is mandated to regulate Veterinary practice and register veterinary graduates in the state.
An alumni of College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana, Dr Kocchar graduated in 1986 and did his Post graduation in Gynaecology and Obstetrics in 1996. He joined animal husbandry department in 1986 as Veterinary Officer and also served as Gynaecologist Polyclinic, Bathinda before his promotion as Assistant Director in 2017.
He was awarded "Best Field Veterinarian award" in 2017 and "Distinguished Alumnus award" in 2019 .He is also serving as State Nodal Officer of National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP), a 100 percent Centrally sponsored pan‐ India programme to control Foot and Mouth Disease and Brucellosis.
After joining, Dr Kocchar said that his top priority would be to ensure quality veterinary services to the livestock of the Punjab State, besides keeping a check on quackery.
