LUDHIANA: The false FIR lodged against a senior teacher of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana in the death case of a dog has been quashed.
The dog belonged to higher ranking government official of the state that was presented to the university hospital by the guards of that VIP. The guards were unwilling to handle and control the animal, and died due to their mishandling. It is a fact that pets can only be handled with love and affection by the owners, but instead of blaming his own guards, the VIP tried to blame the incident on attendee clinician and the institute. Without verifying the facts, zero FIR was registered under pressure and in haste against very senior and competent clinician that led to strong wave of resentment in the veterinary fraternity.
GADVASU Teacher Association took strong note against the fake FIR and initiated protest by suspending OPD services. Police officials investigated the case and found no substance in the concocted story and finally the FIR was quashed in the court. GADVASUTA said that despite COVID lockdown and emerging pandemic veterinary faculty is providing noble services to the livestock owners and pet lovers of the state. Still many people show irascible and aggressive behaviour against serving veterinarians that cannot be tolerated at any level. GADVASUTA president Dr. Ashwani Kumar thanked Punjab State Veterinary Officers Association (PSVOA), Punjab Agricultural University Teachers association (PAUTA), Senior Retd. Veterinary Officers Association, University authorities and other associations for expressing solidarity and whole hearted support. He also expressed gratitude towards the entire journalists and press fraternity for their overwhelming support to clear the air in a fair and positive manner.
