MOHALI: On World Blood Donor Day, the University School of Allied Health Sciences (USAHS) of Rayat Bahra University participated in a blood donation camp to commemorate Birth anniversary of Karl Land Steiner, who discovered the ABO Blood Grouping system and saved human lives, in Sector 17, Chandigarh.
This initiative was aimed to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and to contribute to the community's health needs and at the same time thank blood donors for this noble cause. Prof Satish Bansal, Dean of Academic Affairs, flagged off the contingent of students and staff of USAHS.
The event was organised by Shree Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust, Panchkula, and it was a significant step towards addressing blood shortage in hospitals and helping those in need. Alongside the donation drive, educational sessions were conducted to inform participants about the benefits and the process of blood donation.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University, said blood donation is crucial as it saves lives, supports medical treatments, and ensures a steady supply for emergencies and surgeries. Events like this not only provide immediate support to healthcare facilities but also foster a culture of regular blood donation.
Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, appreciated the efforts of the University School of Allied Health Sciences and the enthusiastic participation of faculty and students for this noble cause.
