RBU students join Youth Red Cross Day function

MOHALI: Staff and students of Rayat Bahra University participated in Youth Red Cross Day function as a tribute to legendary Bhai Ghanhaiya Ji, organised by the Youth Red Cross Society, Chandigarh, a two-day event, at Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib. A number of students from colleges from across Punjab participated.

A contingent of University School of Allied Health Sciences, University School of Physiotherapy and Radiology and Rayat Bahra Dental College and Hospital, was flagged off by Dr Satish Bansal, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr Dinesh Sharma, Registrar and Dr Lalit Gupta, Dean, USPR, RBU.

Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab Shivdular Singh Dhillon, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

During his address, he emphasised the significance of emulating Bhai Ghanhaiya Ji’s generous spirit and encouraged students to participate in the Red Cross Society’s campaigns as and when required.

Dr Jasvir Singh, Principal of the college, warmly welcomed the guests and highlighted the institution's dedication to foster secular education with their rich cultural heritage presentations.

The event showcased captivating presentations of poster making, poetry recitations, group songs, Punjabi folk songs, First Aid Demo and a written quiz.

Shivdular Singh Dhillon gave away prizes to the winners in different competitions.

Dr Pankaj Kaul, Dean, Allied Health Sciences and Inderjeet Kaur, Asst. Prof. Med. Microbiology, who accompanied the RBU contingent of USAHS, USRP and RBDC&H said that among the winners of the event students from the University School of Allied Health Sciences and University School of Physiotherapy and Radiology, received various awards as follows: Mandeep Kaur. B.PT 1st Semester, received 1st prize in Poster Making competition.

Shobita of BPT 1st Semester, received 3rd position in Poem recitation competition. Raviya Khan, Ashutosh Tripathi, Chaitanya, Piyush, USAHS and USPR got 2nd position in First Aid demo event Quiz.

Inderjeet Kaur, Asst. Prof. Med. Microbiology and the students of Rayat Bahra Institute presented a skit to spread awareness about drug de-addiction.

Chairman Rayat Bahra Group of Colleges Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Vice- Chancellor, Dr Parvinder Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr Satish Bansal and Registrar Dr Dinesh Sharma appreciated the efforts taken by the staff and students of Allied Health Sciences.
