AMRITSAR: Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar hosted the 21st livestock census review meeting. The meeting was chaired by Rahul Bhandari, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development, Government of Punjab. Dr. HK Verma, Principal, KCVAS while welcoming the Chief Guest, presented a brief introduction about KCVAS, serving the society since 2010 and college has created a HRD of 446 Vets who have graduated from the college in 8 different batches and now serving the society and dumb creatures.
Dr. Verma took him for a tour of farm and other infrastructural facilities created by the college like new Livestock Farm Complex, Educational wall and Veterinary Hospital serving the farmers and pet owners of the border area of Punjab were shown to the chief guest. Principal Secretary appreciated the facilities created by the KCVAS for the cause of society, farmers and graduating Vet doctors. On this occasion a rotatory handy tool on ‘Vaccination Calendar’ for dairy animals and ‘KCVAS Newsletter’ was released by Bhandari. During the interaction it was decided that AH Department can take all sort of help from KCVAS, Amritsar.
District Nodal Officer Dr. Karanbir Bhinder apprised the chair about the progress and status of 21st Livestock Census in the district. In his address, Bhandari, laid emphasis on the importance of Livestock Census and how good quality census data forms the baseline for the formulation and implementation of various schemes.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Navraj Sandhu, Deputy Director, AH Department, Veterinary Officers, Senior Veterinary Officers and other district AH Officers. Dr. Sandhu also welcomed and thanked, Principal Secretary for reviewing Livestock Census meeting and reviewing its progress. Dr. AS Pannu, SVO presented the Vote of thanks. Dr. SK Nagpal, MD, KCVAS Co-ordinated the meeting while Dr. PN Dwivedi compered the stage of the review meeting.
