AMRITSAR: The students of Khalsa College have brought laurels by winning the '30th Baba Farid Football' tournament with the margin of 5-4 goals and thus got the cash prize and trophy. Principal Dr. Mahal Singh while congratulating the team said that about 16 teams participated in the said tournament held at Faridkot.
After winning various matches the Khalsa College reached the final and defeated Baba Farid Football Club which eventually got the second position. He said that during the said tournament organized at Government Balbir Senior Secondary School, Faridkot on the anniversary of the arrival of the great Sufi saint Baba Sheikh Farid, the College team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 35000 and a trophy.
Dr. Mahal Singh said that sports play an important role in shaping the future of children by providing physical fitness. He congratulated the head of the sports department Dr. Daljit Singh and other staff for the achievement. Dr. Daljit Singh attributed the said victory to the players and said that such success was achieved by Khalsa College Governing Council President Satyajit Singh Majithia, Honorary Secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and Dr. Mahal Singh's active, time-to-time support and far-sighted thinking have made this possible.
