Initiative of District Administration in Public Interest

NABHA:District Administration and Red Cross Society in collaboration with World Cancer Care organized Cancer Screening Camp at Village Achal in Nabha Tehsil, in which about four hundred persons were screened.
SDM Nabha Kanu Garg while visiting the camp, said that the camp was organised on the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Mr Sandeep Hans who coordinated with the NGO to screen the villagers to save them from the clutches of deadly disease. She said that the motive of the camp was to make aware the people of the health concerns and to suggest further measure. She said that such camps would sensitise the needy people about this dreadful disease so that it could be treated at the earliest.
During the camp, a 40 member team of the World Cancer Care including 10 specialist doctors led by Dr. Dharminder Dhillon examined 400 people. Dr. Dhillon disclosed that apart from physical examination of women and men during the camp, mammography and Pap smear tests have been conducted for cancer screening in women and PSA has also been conducted for screening of men. In addition to the above tests, the ortho and general checkup also conducted. He said that this organization regularly conducts camps to make the people aware about the deadly diseases so that the health facility could reach to every citizen especially in remote areas. He said that apart from residents of Achal village, people from surrounding villages have also taken benefit of the camp, which is a good sign in terms of awareness.
He said that in addition to the screening, the camp attendees were also made aware of the preliminary symptoms of different types of cancer and at the same time they were cautioned of Cancer symptoms, Prevention and Diet by distributing pamphlets. Sharing the information, he said that the treatment of cancer is possible if it is detected at the right time i.e. at the very first stage and if the symptoms mentioned in the pamphlet match the symptoms of one's body then contact the nearest government hospital without any delay by adding that treatment is possible if people are aware of the preliminary symptoms of cancer and are diagnosed early. He also appealed to the social service organizations to help the people by organizing such camps and to create awareness among the people so that they can get rid of this disease in future.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Red Cross Pritpal Singh said that the main objective of today's camp was to create awareness among the people for early detection of the dreaded disease like cancer and for proper treatment of the disease.
Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans said that the district administration was fully committed to sort out the problems being faced by the common man. He said that he would always try his best to ensure that the district administration would come to the aid of the people in case of any such problem.
