CHANDIGARH: Punjab Sports and Youth Services Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, on Tuesday, termed the action taken by Shimla Police to arrest the youngsters of Punjab who were peacefully raising their voices in favour of agitating farmers as an attack on their constitutional rights and democratic fabric of the country. He said that the arrest was made at the behest of BJP Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, who wants to appease their political bosses.

CHANDIGARH: Fulfilling the promise of awarding sportspersons of international and national acclaim, who have excelled during the year 2017-18, the Sports Department has decided to honour 90 players in the first phase. Punjab Sports and Youth Services Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi has recently announced to confer upon cash prizes worth crores to such 1135 sportspersons.

CHANDIGARH: Joining the chorus backing the agitating farmers, three former Punjab sportspersons, all belonging to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), have announced to return their awards in protest against the use of police force during the farmers' protests, including Padma Shri and Arjuna awardee wrestler Kartar Singh, Arjuna awardee basketball player Sajjan Singh Cheema and Arjuna awardee hockey player Rajbir Kaur.
