Punjab pollution control board has sealed the illegal dyeing factory

AMRITSAR: In view of the instructions given by the Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar Mr. Ghansham Thori to stop the pollution of the Tung Dhab drain, the Pollution Control Department has closed the illegal dyeing factory B.M. at Nag Kalan.

AMRITSAR: In view of the instructions given by the Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar Mr. Ghansham Thori to stop the pollution of the Tung Dhab drain, the Pollution Control Department has closed the illegal dyeing factory B.M. at Nag Kalan.

XEN of the department Mr. Sukhdev Singh said that the said factory has a license to finish the cloth, but the company also installed dyeing machines in it and did not take the license. The said factory was discharging the used sewage into the Tung Dhab drain without treatment, when the officials went to the spot and took water samples which turned out to be polluted.

The department forwarded the report to the Chairman Pollution Control Board who ordered immediate sealing of the factory, which was immediately implemented.

Deputy Commissiner said that three sewage treatment plants have been established by the government to clean the dirty water of Amritsar city and the total capacity of these treatment plants is 217.5 MLD. One of these three treatment plants under the catchment area of Tung Dhab Drain with a capacity of 95 MlD is situated at village Gaunsabad above Ram Tirth Road which treats the waste water of this area of Amritsar. He said that the capacity of these treatment plots is also being increased.

In this meeting Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Harpreet Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Urban Development Madam Amandeep Kaur, District Development and Panchayat Officer Mr. Sandeep Malhotra, Exxn of Municipal Corporation: Manjit Singh, ADA SDE of S: Jagbir Singh, Punjab Water Sewerage Board S. E. S: Apart from Satnam Singh, officers from various departments were present.
