Protest held at kharar to implement Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

PHAGWARA:On the issue of Post Matric Scholarship Scheme a call was given by Dalit organizations for Punjab bandh. Protest was organized at Kharar near Bus stand in Mohali district . 

Speaking on the occasion Mr S R  Ladhar IAS Retired said the demands of the Dalit community included

1. The Post Matric Scholarship Scheme should continue.
PUNJAB Government should not run away from its basic responsibility to provide education to Dalits.
2. Punjab Govt should order Judicial probe in the PMS Scheme since 2011-12 as its funds have been embezzled by the unscrupulous elements.
3. The degrees of passed out students should not be stopped. They should be released immediately.
4. Income limit of Rs 2.5 lac be removed. There should not be any income limit or it should be at least Rs 5.0 lac annual.
5. The College/ University found embezzled the PMS Funds be disaffiliated.
Let the signal go loud and clear.
6. The PMS funds be directly transferred to students accounts through Portal.
The issue of Manisha victim of gang rape in Hathras UP was also highlighted and strict punishment for culprits was demanded.
Prominent persons who attended the bandh included Mr Tarlochan Singh Soond Ex MLA ,mr Karnail Singh D&SJ rtd Mr D R Paul and Gurmukhi Singh Dolan mazra and Gautum Girish from Mohali
The bandh remained peaceful.
