Mandatory FASTag under electronic toll collection

PHAGWARA:Though the Government have announced FASTag mandatory from today,but traffic chaos and long queues of vehicles were witnessed at Ladhuwal Toll Plaza between Phillaur and Ludhiana on National High Ways on Sunday. Insufficient arrangements by Toll Plaza  authorities and lack of awareness among more than fifty percent vehicles owners were said to be the cause of traffic chaos and most of the vehicle owners having FASTag stickers were forced to wait for long time due to long queues and improper arrangements. Despite repeated attempts Toll Plaza Manager C.S. Rathore could not be contacted.
The government earlier had announced the rollout of mandatory FASTag under electronic toll collection from December 1, which was later extended to December 15, Toll Plaza authorities could not make required arrangements for convenient crossing FASTag holders where as it was reliably learnt that the vehicles without FASTag stickers are being charged double from the normal rates.
