PATIALA: PRTC today kick started the construction work of the new Bus Stand at Rajpura Road after performing a Bhumi Pujan and groundbreaking ceremony.
PRTC Chairman, Mr. K K Sharma after attending the Bhumi Pujan and ground breaking ceremony said that finally the construction of new bus stand started and it will be completed within stipulated period (15 months) to facilitate the residents with state of the art Bus Stand.
Expressing gratitude to the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and MP Patiala, Mrs. Preneet Kaur for making the project practical, Mr Sharma said that with the starting of construction work, a long cherished dream has come true.
Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh had laid the foundation stone of this project in October, last year. This state-of-the-art new bus stand on Rajpura Road would come up at a cost of Rs. 60.97 crore, added Mr. Sharma .
He further said that this new bus stand in Patiala was a dream project of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Member Lok Sabha Mrs. Preneet Kaur. He said that Bhumi Pujan performed today for the successful completion of this special project before starting the construction work.
Chairman Mr. K.K. Sharma said that this Bus Stand would have a total constructed area of 148513 square feet which include basement for 44 Four wheelers and 526 Two Wheelers, 23 Shops and showrooms, A Waiting lounge, Two Food Courts, One Locker Room, Two Dormitories and four lifts. Apart from that, a workshop is also being constructed with a covered area of 26877 square feet. The New Bus Stand will house an administrative block, cash and bill branch, record room, workshop, oil pump and washing station etc. covering an area of 8.51 acres. He said that this new bus stand would be a model bus stand equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
During this Bhumi Pujan ceremony, PRTC Additional Managing Director Mr. Nitish Singla, SE Public Works Paramjit Goyal and NR Goyal, Executive Engineer Civil Cell Engg. Jatinderpal Singh Grewal, Executive Engineer PWD S.L. Garg, Davinder Kaushal, ExEn Amrik Singh of Public Health and other officials were present.
