OBC, EBC and DNT students can apply for Post-Matric Scholarship: Dr. Baljit Kaur

Portal for Post-Matric Scholarship opened for first time for OBC, EBC and DNT students
CHANDIGARH: Students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC) and Denotified and Nomadic Tribes (DNT) can now apply for the Post-Matric Scholarship. This was expressed by Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that under the Prime Minister YASASVI Scheme for the academic year 2024-25, the Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship Portal has been opened for OBC, EBC and DNT students to apply for the Post-Matric Scholarship as per the guidelines. She highlighted that this is the first time a portal has been specifically opened for these categories of students.

She further explained that the portal has been launched to streamline the scholarship process by enabling eligible students to apply, ensuring accurate verification by institutions, obtaining approvals from authorities and timely disbursement of financial assistance.

Minister stated that the last date for students to apply for free ship cards under the 2024-25 scholarship process is February 15, 2025. Institutions must submit complete cases for approval by February 25, 2025.

Additionally, the deadline for line departments/approval authorities to send online proposals for scholarships is March 5, 2025, while the final date for the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities to receive these online proposals is March 10, 2025.

The Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring that eligible students complete their applications on time. She also instructed nodal officers and implementing departments to take proactive steps to guide institutions in assisting students with their applications and to ensure eligible students apply for the scholarship in a timely manner.

Dr. Baljit Kaur also directed district-level officials from the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities to implement the scholarship scheme smoothly and ensure timely follow-ups.
