Approval for reuse of good condition used Gunny bags brings cheers to the Arhtiyas and Agencies
PATIALA: The decision of the Punjab Government to allow reuse of good condition used gunny bags to ensure smooth procurement of wheat during the current Rabi season has brought cheers on the faces of Arhtiyas and procurement agencies. It may be recalled that Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder had given its nod to address the shortage of gunny bags due to the sudden influx of wheat in the mandis.

In continuation of the new instructions regard the use of used gunny bags, District Food & Supply Controller Harsharanjit Singh Brar today convened an urgent meeting of the District Managers of various procurement agencies to apprised tgem of the recent instructions and ask them to the expidite the procurement process and lifting by maximum use of used gunny bags .
DFSC while reviewing the distribution of Bardana among the procurement agencies, asked the procuring agencies to ensure the distribution of Bardana in all the Mandis of Patiala district and make the Bardana available in coordination with the Arhtiyas so that the farmers could sold their produce timely in wake of incliment weather conditions.
The decision of the Punjab government to re-use the used bags was also being applauded by the farmers and arhtiyas by saying that this decision was need of the hour as shortage of funny bags had hampered the procurement operation too besides fear of crop damage in the mandis due to the changing mood of the weather.
DFSC added that we would wind up the procurement season in next three to four days as most of the produce has already arrived in the Mandis due to early harvesting season in Patiala District.
