Twitter campaign in support of Puducherry power strike- AIPEF
CHANDIGARH: Thousand of power engineers across the country including Punjab and Haryana joined the "Twitter Campaign" in support of Puducherry power employees strike against privatization and demanded immediate withdrawal of RFP documents. The Twitter message cautioned the central government that they shall be forced to start a nationwide movement against any victimization.

All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) spokesperson V K Gupta said on Friday that engineers and employees of the Puducherry Power Department have gone on indefinite strike by more than 20,000 workers across the UT from Wednesday to protest the government's decision to privatise electricity distribution and retail sales."Privatisation of distribution of power is a step in the wrong direction", said V K Gupta.
While supporting the strike, AIPEF has appealed to the Chief Minister and Lt. Governor Puducherry for immediate withdrawal of RFP documents regarding the privatization of the power department.
V K Gupta said that as per press reports a number of MLAs met the chief minister on Thursday seeking withdrawal of power privatisation process.
