Priest and female devotee shot at by masked miscreants in Phagwara

PHILLAUR: Two Unidentified armed and masked motorcyclist assailants shot at and seriously wounded a Temple Priest Sant Pragyia Gyan Muni(39) and a girl devotee Simran((16) in a temple in nearby Village Bhagsinghpura near Phillaur on Sunday morning.

The Priest sustained three bullet injuries while the devotee girl sustained two bullet injuries. S.P.(Investigation) Manpreet Singh along with SP Phillaur Sohail Mir rushed to the spot. An Eyewitness Shelly told the police that both assailants struck in the temple around 10AM and opened fire upon the priest who ran towards the kitchen of the mandir where Simran was working who tried to save the priest but the assailants shot at and seriously wounded both. Both injured were sent to DMC Ludhiana due to their critical condition. Finger Prints Experts and Dog Squads have been summoned. The Police have registered a case under relevant sections of IPC. Though media persons reached the site even before the police, but senior cops did not pick the mobile phones even.

It may be mentioned here that the village Bhagsinghpura came to light due to Khalista Tiger Force Chief Hardip Singh Nizzar who belongs to the village and had 11 kanals 13 marlas of agricultural land in the village.
