Overwhelming response for Veterinary Science and Animal Health Technology Diploma Programme

LUDHIANA: A massive response was seen to the Veterinary Diploma Programme of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. The university provides 305 diploma seats to 10+2 (Medical) students at three locations- College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, Veterinary Polytechnic, Kaljharani and Baba Hira Das Ji college, Badal. After the first round of counselling, all the diploma seats got filled.

The controlling officer for diplomas, Dr. Baljinder Kumar Bansal, reveals that the number of candidates this year almost doubled to about 1300. The students with marks as high as 96.75% occupied the seats, and the merit concluded at 426 ranks with an 82.25% cutoff. Girls make up about 10% of the admitted students.

Dr. H.S. Banga, Registrar informed that the details of any seats that become available upon surrender will be posted on the university website www.gadvasu.in, and a second round of counselling will take place on August 28. In the second round of counselling, existing applicants would be considered as such, however, the new applicants may also submit a fresh application as well.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University, said that this is an encouraging sign for providing the youth with employment and helping farmers in the state with good animal health care. He congratulated the university staff for their work in efficient conduct of counselling and conveyed his good wishes to the newly admitted students for successful completion of their education.
