AMRITSAR: The Media Mela organized by the PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) was successfully concluded. In which Dr. Vir Bala Aggarwal, Chairperson of the Media Department of Himachal Pradesh University, was the chief guest and Dr. Ranbir Singh, head of the media department at I.K. Gujral University, and Dr. Namrata Joshi, head of the media department at GNDU regional campus Jalandhar, were the guests at this event.
Acting Principal of KCA, Dr. Arvinder Kaur Kahlon, honored the chief guests with shawls, mementos, and a college coffee table book. In her address to the students, Dr. Aggarwal said that mass communication is to connect with people on a large scale and share information with them. It is necessary for democracy and monarchy.Through mass communication, agriculture, industry, trade, public service, and public interest are promoted.
Dr. Ranveer Singh said that through communication we share our thoughts and feelings. With better communication skills, we can attract and influence others. Dr. Namrata informed the students about the means of modern A.I. Many competitions like debate, short film making, poster making, photography, and radio jockey were organized in the fair. Students from many institutions, including Doaba College, APJ College, Chandigarh University, Chitkara University, Punjab University, and GNDU regional campus Jalandhar, enthusiastically participated in the media fair.
During the media mela, students enthralled the audience with cultural presentations like dance, singing, and poetry. During the event, Assistant Commissioner Amritsar, Gursimran Jot Kaur, inspired the participants and said that by participating in such programs, you can enhance the hidden talent within you because it boosts your morale. She wished all the participants all the best for their bright future. College journalism students Jashanpreet Singh, Sanjana, Shalini, Shubh, Sumit, Shaltial, and Amatul won awards for various events.
Dr. Kahlon, congratulated the Journalism Department on the successful organization of the media fair and encouraged such events in the future also. Head of the Department, Dr. Sania Marwaha, honored the award-winning participants. On this occasion, Prof. Surbhi Sharma, Prof. Hari Singh, Prof. Jaskirat Singh, Prof. Bhawini Khanna, Prof. Jahanvi Rajput, and Prof. Ashutosh Thakur were present.
