Guru Nanak Dev University organized interactive workshop for Journalism students

AMRITSAR: Department of Mass Communication, Guru Nanak Dev University organised an interactive workshop in collaboration with Collective Newsroom and British Broadcasting Corporation at Conference Hall, Guru Nanak Bhawan of the University. This workshop was organised under the Banner of BBC India Trainee Scheme.

A Team of Senior journalists and Officials including Iqbal Ahmed, Shruti Arora, Arshdeep Kaur and Ravinder Robin shared their significant insights and experiences related to the field of journalism. Dr. Vasudha Sambyal, head of the department of Mass Communication, honoured the initiation of the event with her welcome remarks and Felicitating guests with Floral Saplings.

The session started with remarks from Iqbal Ahmed where he explained about the journalism being the door for inclusivity from diversity. Shruti Arora talks to the students about Collective Newsroom and approaching internships and Trainee scehemes available in BBC. Sr. journalist Arshdeep Kaur puts lights on the ethical considerations and work environment in BBC Punjabi. The event signified the role of journalist in constructing a democratic society and a society for equal representation of all the sections of society.

Shruti Explains about contemporary opportunities available in the media industry and role of trainee Schemes for being a good journalist. The session focuses on the levels of the news institution and how to enter BBC. A question and answer session was held at the end, allowing students to present their inquiries.
