Dr (Prof) Karamjeet Singh appointed Vice chancellor (Additional charge) of Punjabi University Patiala for 6 months

AMRITSAR: The Hon'ble Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, has appointed Prof. Dr. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, to assume the responsibilities of Vice Chancellor (Additional Charge) at Punjabi University, Patiala.

This appointment will be effective for six months or until a regular incumbent is named.

Prof. Dr. Karamjeet Singh, a distinguished academician with over 38 years of experience, is renowned for his contributions to finance, strategic management, and Sikh philosophy. His rich background in higher education administration and his vision for academic excellence make him an ideal choice for this critical role. Prof. Karamjeet Singh, an alumnus of Guru Nanak Dev University, holds an illustrious career in teaching, research, training, and consultancy. Prior to this appointment, he served as the founding Vice-Chancellor of Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala, where he laid a strong foundation for the institution.

His previous roles include being a Professor of Finance and Strategic Management at Panjab University, Chandigarh, where he also served as Registrar, Dean of multiple faculties, and Director of the Human Resource Development Centre. He has held significant administrative responsibilities, including serving on the Senate, Syndicate, and Academic Council.

Decorated with numerous awards, Prof. Karamjeet Singh’s accolades include the Lifetime Achievement Award for Management and Leadership, Best Business Academic Award, and recognition from the University Grants Commission for organizing prestigious academic events. His leadership has extended to global academic collaborations, having been invited for engagements at institutions such as Wharton Business School (USA), University of London (UK), and Toronto (Canada).

Prof. Singh’s academic contributions are noteworthy not only in his field of finance but also on Sikh philosophy as he authored five books on Sikh Philosophy and religion, published 50 research papers in renowned journals. He has mentored 20 Ph.D. scholars in Management and Commerce and championed areas such as Corporate Governance, Strategic Management, and Spirituality in Management.
