AMRITSAR: DAV College Amritsar successfully conducted its 67th Annual Award Presentation Ceremony here today. The event celebrated the outstanding achievements of students in various fields, including academics, sports, cultural activities, and social service.
The ceremony was graced by Smt. Sakshi Sawhney, Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, as the Chief Guest. Prof. (Dr.) Saroj Arora, Dean, College Development Council, GNDU, Amritsar, was the Guest of Honour for the event.
Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta said that DAV College Amritsar remains committed to recognizing and nurturing talent, encouraging students to strive for excellence in all spheres of life. While sharing insights from the life and achievements of Smt. Sakshi Sawhney, he said that she is the first woman Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar. She secured All India 6th rank in UPSC Examination. While introducing the Guest of Honour, Principal said that Dr. Saroj Arora is a person of academic excellence. She has received many honours on account of her academic and research work.
Smt. Sakshi Sawhney delivered an inspiring speech encouraging the winners to continue their pursuit of excellence. She encouraged the students to work selflessly for the society and added that they should have a compassionate attitude towards the less privileged. She recognised the role of teachers in a student's life. She inspired them to become good human beings in their lives and wished them luck in their future ventures.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. Saroj Arora, addressed the audience and shared that she started her career as a professor from DAV College, Amritsar. She remarked that she felt immense honour and pride to grace the occasion as the Guest of Honour. She congratulated the prize winners of different academic and co-curriculum activities during the session. She asked them to act as responsible citizens of the nation, guiding others to the path of upliftment and development.
Principal alongwith the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Registrar- Prof Pardeep Celly and all the other dignitaries released the college Annual Report. Almost 245 students were awarded certificates and medals by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Principal, and other dignitaries.
The Secretary, Staff Council, moved the vote of thanks. He expressed his gratitude to everyone for being part of the ceremony. He conveyed his gratitude to all those who have worked tirelessly to make the event a success. The ceremony was graced by all the Office-Bearers of the college, the faculty members and the retired teachers of the college.
