Special girdawari commences in 82 flood hits villages of Shahkot and Phillaur

CHANDIGARH: As the water has started receding in the flood hit villages, the special Girdawari (surveyorship) in these villages has been commenced, to duly compensate the farmers for their losses, informed the official Spokesman of government of Punjab  

The teams of Revenue officers had started the special assessment in Phillaur Sub Division a couple of days ago, but as the water has come down in Shahkot Sub Division as well, the Revenue officers led by Sub Divisional Magistrate have  started the Girdawari in villages Kang Khurd, Kotha, Mehrajwala, Yusafpur Darewal, Mundi Chohlian, Gatta Mandi Kassu, Yosufpur Alewal and others.

Similarly, in Phillaur Sub Division the surveyorship is being carried out in villages Sailkiana, Chaula Bajarh, Mau, Meowal, Lassara, Talwan, Burj Hassan, Burj Kela, Sadhara, Kadiana, Pwari and others.

The Spokesman said that as per the preliminary report, crop in 82 villages has been destroyed due to floods in Jalandhar district, out of which 52 villages fall in Shahkot and 30 fall in Phillaur Sub Division. He said that the Revenue officers have been asked to meticulously prepare the report and submit at the earliest so that farmers could be provided relief as quickly as possible.

He said that on the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the administration is duty-bound to ascertain the loss incurred by farmers and to ensure timely compensation for them.

He said that the state government is fully committed to adequately compensate the farmers for any loss due to floods.
