Rules will be made regarding the qualification, appointment, scope of work and retirement of the Jathedar of Akal Takht: Advocate Dhami

The principle of one person, one position will be applicable while appointing Jathedars.
AMRITSAR: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has made an important announcement and said that respect for Singh Sahibans and every organization within the Sikh Panth will be maintained and the opinions of Sikh sects regarding the positions of Jathedars will not be ignored in the future.

Speaking to the media at the SGPC headquarters here today, Advocate Dhami said that rules regarding the qualification, appointment, scope of work and retirement of the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib will be framed soon and a high-level committee will be formed for this purpose.

A resolution in this regard will be brought in the upcoming budget session and approval will be sought.

It will also be ensured that the policy of one person, one post is implemented on these respected posts of Jathedars.

Under this, the vacant post of Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib will be appointed soon with the advice of Panthic sects and organizations.

The SGPC President said that Sikh customs, traditions and history are our guiding principles. These will not be ignored and will be taken forward with collective and organized influence, so that the challenges faced by the nation from time to time can be dealt with under the organizational spirit.

Advocate Dhami said that the enemy forces of the nation are already making full efforts to weaken the Sikh institutions and Sikh power. If the nation does not give the impression of unity, then the anti-Sikh forces will continue to succeed in their intentions.

Advocate Dhami also clarified that the retirement of the Jathedars serving on the Takht Sahibs will be done in a dignified manner..
Efforts will also be made to honor the Singh Sahibs who have retired in the past for their services.

Advocate Dhami said that in view of the current circumstances, the service of the President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is no less than a big challenge, which he is also aware.

He said that after resigning recently, all religious, social, political parties as well as respected Singh Sahibans had inspired him to take up the service, for which he thanks everyone and will try to live up to the trust expressed by all sects and organizations.
