Man mauled to death by stray dogs in Nakodar village

PHAGWARA: A 48-year-old man was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs when he was irrigating the fields in Kang Sahibu village under Nakodar Sadar police station of the district on Friday.

Investigating officer (IO) Janak Raj said that Jagtar Ram a resident of Hamiri Kherra village under Jamsher Sadar police station was irrigating fields of maize crop in Kang Sahibu village on Friday morning when a pack of stray dogs from a nearby ‘hadda rori’ (dumping site for animal carcass) mauled him to death.

Soni, wife of the deceased, told the police that her husband was associated with a farmer Amarjit Singh of Meera Pur village for the last four years and was looking after his field.

She said Amarjit Singh took her husband to Kang Sahibu village to irrigate his maize crop cultivated on rent basis.
Soni said a pack of stray dogs from a nearby hadarorri attacked and mauled him to death.

IO said the police reached on the spot and recorded a statement of Soni acting under sections 194 of the BNNS sent the body for post mortem to Nakodar civil hospital.
