CHANDIGARH: Ravneet Singh Bittu, Union Minister of Railways and Food processing Industries today slammed Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his non-serious attitude towards law and order situation in Punjab and accused him of politicizing and diverting the serious issue of security threat in border state of Punjab.
While speaking seriously about the registration of an FIR against S. Partap Singh Bajwa, the Leader of the Opposition in Punjab, Ravneet Singh Bittu stated that Mr. Bajwa holds a cabinet rank by virtue of his position. Even if Mr. Bajwa raised concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, the Chief Minister should have shown maturity and statesmanship by inviting him for a discussion, rather than resorting to the registration of an FIR. Bittu said that the Chief Minister’s actions have set a disturbing new precedent in Punjab’s political landscape, which is neither democratic nor in good taste.
In a statement, Bittu said that most of the grenade attacks in Punjab including at the house Of senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia had shown the gangster-terrorist nexus is operating in Punjab. He said that it was the duty of the Punjab Government to probe and act swiftly if any information coming to them about possible bomb attacks in Punjab. He said that situation in Punjab was not normal and nobody is safe under the present situation.
Bittu said that not a single day goes without incidents of violence and terror attack. He said that targeted attacks by gangsters pose a serious threat to the national security as well. He said that an attack by armed assailants on a Petrol Pump in Majitha is an indication that Punjab is slipping into dark days, witnessed by Punjab in 80's.
Bittu said that union government was keeping a close eye on the developments in Punjab. He said that union Govt was helping the state government in intelligence sharing and national security matters but it is the duty of state government to keep tap of criminal activities at local level. He said that AAP was selective in acting against the criminal gangs.
Bittu said that one of the major reasons of deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab are increased interference in the working and appointments in Punjab police by Delhi AAP leaders. He stated that people of Punjab had given an opportunity to AAP, misled by false promises of corruption free government and ending the mafia rule.
Union Minister said that Bhagwant Mann is as corrupt as his masters in Delhi. He is just a puppet in the hands of Arvind Kejriwal who is on bail in a drug and corruption case. He warned people of Punjab not to trust AAP leaders on their assurances of eliminating drugs. He said that in first three years of their governance they protected the drug mafia and indulged in illegal mining.
