CHANDIGARH: PPCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that they were preparing to contest all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab but they will accept the decision of party high command on forging any alliance with AAP. Statement of Raja Warring is in contrast with the stand taken by CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa while Navjot Sidhu is on board with Raja Warring.
Talking to media persons, Raja Warring said that party supremo Sonia Gandhi and central leaders would take the final call and if they decide to forge an alliance, they would accept it. Raj Warring was earlier against striking an alliance with AAP in the Lok Sabha poll claiming that they are the main opposition of AAP government in Punjab. He also led a party delegation alongwith Bajwa to apprise the party high command of views of PPCC.
The statement of Raja Warring came a day after former PPCC president Navjot Sihdu announced that he full go with the party high command decision if INDIA (alliance) decided to go for alliance in Punjab. AAP and Congress are part of INDIA.
Punjab Congress CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa is opposed to any alliance with the AAP in Punjab. He said that they would contest all 13 seats and their main fight is with AAP in the state. Bajwa had also questioned Navjot Sidhu for singing differnt tone. He accused that Congress has came down from 78 to 18 seats under the presidentship of Sidhu. He advised Sidhu to speak from the Congress party platform. He invited him for two rallies of Congress party.
Navjot Sidhu today rebutted the Bajwa's statement and said that let Bajwa make it clear he would accept the party high command decision or not. He alleged that collussion between Bajwa with Akalis for taking turn to rule has resuted in defeat in assembly. He also said that his pro Punjab agenda was changed to pro dalit agenda which resulted in defeat.
The AAP leaders in Punjab were also opposed to alliance with Congress however party supremo Arvind Kejriwal may take a decision for an alliance on the ground of fighting with the common enemy BJP. There are also reports of possibility of an alliance between BJP and SAD. BSP is already in alliance with SAD but not part of INDIA.
