HOSHIARPUR: A high level delegation of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today met Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and appealed to him to continue serving as President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
Briefing newsmen, senior leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the delegation met Advocate Dhami to understand the circumstances under which he had tendered his resignation as SGPC president. “It is clear that Mr Dhami chose to resign due to mental agony. He has taken few things to heart due to which he resigned all of a sudden. We have on our part assured Mr Dhami that the party is with him and that the Panth needs his leadership at this crucial juncture”.
Asserting that the SAD was keen to resolve the entire issue pertaining to Mr Dhami’s resignation, Dr Cheema said “we will continue to engage with him and arrive at a resolution to all issues”.
Dr Cheema also listed that Advocate Dhami has made immense contributions to both the SAD and SGPC. He said the leader had held important positions both in the SAD and the SGPC due to his capability and honesty. “Sometimes organisations have to take tough decisions while performing their duties. These are necessary as the SGPC, which was formed as per an Act of parliament, has to take decisions on appointments of Jathedars.
Meanwhile the delegation also congratulated Advocate Dhami on the joyous occasion of the birth of his grandson and shared in the latter’s happiness on the occasion. The delegation members included Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Hira Singh Gabhria, Varinder Singh Bajwa, Gurbachan Singh Babehali, Lalli Bajwa and Kulwant Singh Manan.
Meanwhile The resignation of Advocate Harjinder Singh SGPC President should not be accepted.
Bhai Ram Singh said that Advocate Dhami had not only improved the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee but also a significant contribution to the preaching and propaganda.
Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami are honest, hardworking and Gurmukh men whose experience is a great need.
He appealed to the Committee to reject the resignation of Advocate Dhami while considering the national interests.
