Unfortunate act of not offering VJ to 596 pilgrims out of 1525- Secretary SGPC
AMRITSAR: On the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Day (Vaisakhi), 929 devotees have received VJ for the group sent by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to visit Gurdhams in Pakistan.
This Jatha will leave from the Shiromani Committee office on April 13. The Shiromani Committee sent the passports of 1525 pilgrims to the Pakistan Embassy in Delhi, out of which the embassy did not issue VJs to 596 pilgrims.
Giving information in this regard, Secretary of the SGPC Pratap Singh said that like every year, this time too, a Jatha of Sikh pilgrims is to be sent to Pakistan on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Vaisakhi).
The Jatha will depart from the Shiromani Committee office on April 13 amid cheers, which will return to the country on April 22 after participating in the events at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib Hasan Abdal and visiting various Gurdwaras in Pakistan.
He appealed to the pilgrims going to Pakistan to get their passports from the Shiromani Committee office during office hours on April 11 and 12.
Secretary Pratap Singh said that there is great enthusiasm among the devotees for darshan of Gurdwaras located in Pakistan, but their religious feelings are hurt by the government's cutting off the VJ of pilgrims.
He said that this time the cancellation of 596 out of 1525 VJs is extremely unfortunate.
He appealed to the Governments of India and Pakistan that pilgrims who go for darshan of the Gurudwaras should be given water with an open heart, so that the pilgrims can visit the Gurdhams they have left.
