Punjab Bandh on Dec 30, Rail and road traffic to remain suspended till 4 PM

No supply of milk and vegetables, schools, colleges, offices and markets to remain closed
CHANDIGARH: On call given by farmer organisations, Punjab will observe complete bandh on Monday, December 30. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal is sitting on fast unto death for the last 34 days appealed the people to support the bandh.

Swaran Singh Pandher president of Kisan Mazdoor Union said that all the shopping centers, offices, schools and colleges would remain closed tomorrow. He added that no road and rail traffic will be allowed in the state from 6 AM to 4 PM. There will be no supply of milk and vegetables from villages.

The bandh call has been given to press the center government for starting a dialogue on demands of farmers including Minimum Support Price for all crops. The farmers are holding sit on at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders of Haryana. The Haryana police didn't allow the farmers to march towards Delhi and used force to push back farmers who made several attempts to break the police barricades.

The farmer union have announced that people going to airport, emergency services like ambulance, marriage parties, students appearing for interviews would be allowed to proceed. Pandher said that media will not be stopped from traveling.

Pandher said that all business organisations, banking unions, PRTC and Punbus employees have supported the bandh. The SGPC has announced to close its offices.

The farmer leader said that corporates were not attacking farmers only, the business community is also suffering due to monopoly of all trades. He said that online shopping sites are danger for small businesses. He said that center government was promoting corporate system which is capturing the agriculture sector. He sough support of all sections of society.
