AMRIK SINGH | April 02, 2025 07:00 PM

AMRITSAR: Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO has closed the liquor vend and premises running under the main road leading from Jandiala Guru to Tarn Taran, which he himself has recently named Sri Guru Arjan Dev Marg and has also constructed a very beautiful road and big gates. He said that this vend, running under the Sri Guru Arjan Dev Virasat Marg gate built at the entry of this main road leading to Tarn Taran, the town founded by Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, was being opposed by the Sangat.

Considering the demand and logic of the congregation, this liquor vend has been removed from here. He said that this decision has been taken by understanding the sentiments of the congregation and now this vend will not be operational here in future.

The decision taken to close the liquor vend near this heritage gate of Jandiala Guru, which is dedicated to Guru Sahib, has been appreciated and thanked by Guru Manyo Granth Sevak Jatha, Sikh organizations and religious institutions. The congregation said that they had brought this serious issue to the attention of Minister Harbhajan Singh. Taking this matter with sensitivity and seriousness, he took the step of immediately removing the said liquor vend, which is commendable.

In a special meeting held at Gurdwara Baba Handal today, the congregation expressed heartfelt gratitude to Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh for his performance and prayed for his progress.
