AMRITSAR: Senior BJP leader Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today condemned the state government of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann for removing the security cover of senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia. He said the move was aimed to silence the voice of opposition which speaks volumes of the Mann government’s ‘autocratic and dictatorial’ attitude of the present government in the state.
Chhina who questioned the move, pointing out that only a few days ago, the local police instructed him to enhance his security measures at his residence in Amritsar in view of the threat perception and now the decision is contrary. “The law and order in the state is at the worst in the present times. And now that the security has been removed shows how the administration is working in the state of Punjab”, said Chhina.
Chhina said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had withdrawn Majithia's Z-plus security cover as part of a political vendetta as Majithia was speaking against the anti-people policies of the government. He said the removal of the security is nothing but a "witch hunt" against Majithia, whom he claimed was being targeted unfairly. He also appealed the Centre government to ensure the security and safety of Bikram Majithia who was a popular leader and had been facing the threats from various quarters in the past.
