AMRITSAR: Overcoming the winter chill of December, Christians of Amritsar, participated with zeal in the candlelight carol march held under the aegis of the Diocese of Amritsar (DoA), Church of North India (CNI), ahead of Christmas.

The march which started from St Paul’s Church, Court Road, passed through the key boulevards of the city before culminating at Christ Church Cathedral, Ram Bagh, Amritsar. Sporting glowing candles, symbolizing hope, the young and old Christian believers took to the streets of Amritsar to spread the message of Christmas, which is the message of peace, hope, love, and joy, for all of God’s creation.

The brightly lit candles provided ample light to move ahead as the sun dipped below the horizon and also emitted a Biblical message of being bearers of light to a world shrouded in darkness.

As the procession wove its way through the city's streets, the soft glow of candles cast a magical spell, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. The carollers' voices, carrying the timeless message of peace, love, and redemption, brought smiles to the faces of onlookers and passersby.

“Christians are called to be bearers of light for spreading hope and warmth to those in need, ” said The Most Rev Dr P K Samantaroy, Bishop, DoA, CNI. Mr Daniel B Das, property manager, DoA, CNI, highlighted the tireless efforts of the diocese to empower marginalized communities through education, healthcare, and counselling initiatives.

Bishop Samantaroy, reaffirmed the commitment of the diocese to spread love, hope, and harmony throughout the region, inspiring all to become beacons of light in their communities.
