Haryana farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni warns center against treating Punjab farmers as 'enemies'

Widespread resentment in Punjab against BJP government for violent attacks on farmers at Shambu border
CHANDIGARH: Haryana's farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni today wanred the center government for treating Punjab farmers as enemies and misuse of police force against them.

In a statement Chaduni said that it was condemnable that Haryana government was not allowing the farmers to go the Delhi. He said that it was democratic country and farmers has the right to protest. He warned that if Haryana government continued its provoking acts, they will join the agitation. He said that all demands of farmers are genuine.

Joginder Singh Ugrahan president of BKU(Ugrahan) has also condemned the Haryana government and warned that the thousands of farmers would reach Shambu border if farmers are not allowed to go to Delhi. He said that as a mark of solidarity with protesting farmers, the BKU (Ugrahan) will block rail tracks for four hours on February 15. He said that reports of firing on Punjab farmers by Haryana police would not be tolerated. He said they support the demands of SKM(non-political).

Giani Harpreet Singh Jathedar Takht Damdama Sahib and former Jathedar of Akal Takht also condemned the action of Haryana police. He said that border was blocked and an impression is given as if Punjab is another country. He said farmers were by and large are peaceful and they are demanding their democratic rights.

Sukhbir Singh Badal president of SAD said that they fully support the farmers of Punjab. He has postponed for a day his Punjab Bachao Yatra and would meet senior party leaders to discuss the situation.

Prem Singh Chandumajra SAD MP also strongly condemned the action of Haryana police. He said that farmers are not enemies of country. Their demands shall be accepted immediately. Chandumajra also visited teh injured farmers in Rajpura hospital. He said that some chemicals were mixed in teargan shells which cause fire when it falls. One youth has lost his eye with bullet fired from Haryana side. He demanded Rs.5o lakh compensation for seriously injured farmers.

Punjab NRI affairs minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaiwal said that Haryana government was doing illegal activities and there is no law to block the national highways. He said that farmers are not creating any problem in Haryana rather it is Haryana government which is creating problem for the farmers and common people.

Balbir Singh health Minister of Punjab said that government hospitals in Patiala and Rajpura had received hundereds of farmers injured with bullet injuries. He said that Haryana goverment action was undemocratic and inhuman. He said that Punjab government fully support the demands of farmers.
