During the monsoon season, 2.5 crore saplings will be planted across the state: Krishan Kumar FC

AMRITSAR: During the current financial year, the state government has set a target of planting 2.5 crore saplings throughout the state during the forest department Punjab monsoon season and in this regard, the forest department has prepared nurseries and during the monsoon season in the vacant spaces in different departments. Saplings will be provided for plantation .

In this regard, in a meeting with the heads of all the departments of the district, the Finance Commissioner , Forest Department Mr. Krishna Kumar said that the area under forests in Punjab has reduced to 5.92 percent and to improve the environment, the state's area under trees and forests will be 7.5 percent by 2030. A new initiative has been started by the government to increase the percentage . He said that apart from forest land, saplings will be planted on a large scale in non-forest land and panchayat areas will play a major role in this work. He said that the panchayats think that with the saplings planted on the panchayat land, their land will come under forests and they will be prohibited from cutting trees from this land, due to which they refrain from planting saplings on the panchayat lands.

He clarified that the forest department will not attempt to afforest the panchayat land and the plantation area under any forest law, nor will there be any restriction by the forest department while cutting the planted trees . He also made it clear that in future, the panchayats will be fully entitled to the income from the trees cut from the area by the panchayats . He made it clear that in the same way the trees planted in schools can be cut by the school department if necessary and in this regard also N. oh c . There will be no need to take it from the forest department . He said that the school will have full rights over these planted plants .

Mr. Krishna Kumar while addressing the meeting said that Amritsar A target of 10 lakh saplings has been set for planting in different places to make the district green. With these plants, the environment will be clean and in the future, relief from heat will be beneficial to make life happy. He directed the officials to plant maximum saplings in the district and in this regard B. S. F. The support should also be taken . He said that all the departments should mark their vacant places for planting saplings and get saplings from the Forest Department as per their requirement .

He told the District Development and Panchayat Officer Mr. Sandeep Malhotra that under the Mahatman Gandhi NREGA scheme, plantation should be done in the district. Orders were given to identify every vacant place related to his department i.e. government buildings , hospitals , schools , panchayat land road side on which plantation can be done. So that plants can be provided to them as per their requirement . He said that the work should not be limited to planting only but it is our duty to take care of them . He said that it is our primary duty to come forward to save the environment so that our future generations can be provided with a clean environment . He said to give full support to save the saplings planted on the road berms adjacent to the lands. This will provide maximum employment to job card holders under the Magnarega scheme.
