Administration plugs nine breaches in Phillaur, last will be plugged by tomorrow-DC

JALANDHAR: In a major breakthrough, the district administration has managed to plug nine out of the total 10 breaches in Dhussi bandh over the river Satluj in the Phillaur Sub Division.

Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma said that the work of plugging 165 ft wide 2R bandh at RD 14000-15000 (Bholewal Complex), 350 ft 2R bandh at RD 2000 (Meowal Complex) and seven breaches of various ft from 65ft to 165ft in 2R bandh between RD 30500-32500, have been completed.

He said that the last breach 135 ft 2R bandh between RD 30500-32500 (Meowal Complex) has been left which will be plugged by tomorrow.

Sharma said that it is result of tirelessly hard work of the officials from various departments, MGNREGA workers and around 250 volunteers each of Baba Kashmira Singh, Baba Tarvinder Singh Sangh Dhesia and Baba Nirmal Singh under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Jasbir Singh who led from the front in Phillaur sub-division.

He said the work had been carried out on war footing level at every breach.

He said that the district administration was leaving no stone unturned to provide relief to the flood-affected residents of the villages.
